A STUDY ON THE THERMAL DIFFUSIVITY OF DENTAL COMPOSITE RESINS

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to measure the thermal diffusivity of dental composite resins commercially available in Korea and to analyze the relationship with filler.
Twelve kinds of dental resins were used in this study, three of them were chemically cured composite resins. eight of them were visible light cured composite resins and the other was acrylic resin. The thermal diffusivity of each dental resins was measured 1 and 24 hrs after the start of curing.
The results were as follows:
1 There was trend to increased thermal diffusivity with increasing content of filler.
2 Thermal diffusivity of dental composite resin increased in order, blended, microfilled conventional type.
3. Thermal diffusivity of visible light cured composite resins was less than thatof chemically cured composite resins.
4. Thermal diffusivity of dental composite resins measured after 24 hrs was trend to less than that of 1 hr.
5 Thermal diffusivity of dental composite resins was higher than that of acrylic resin.
